Citizens of Port Alberni, tall ship enthusiasts and visitors to our City…

Welcome to the traditional territories of the Tseshaht First Nations and the Hupacasath First Nations.

Let it be known to all that on July 11 & 12, 2008 during the reign of Elizabeth II that the Tall Ship’s Challenge will be back in Port Alberni, British Columbia.

There is reason for celebration as all British Columbians will be commemorating the 150th anniversary of British Columbia becoming a Crown Colony of the British Empire.

Tall Ships and their crews along with members of the West Coast Rangers Black Powder Club will be on hand as cannons are fired in recognition of this historic event.

There will be much to see and do as ships are boarded, the sounds of entertainment are in the air, vendors ply their wares and gun battles rage on the water.

If you are a would be pirate or sailor or plainsmen and looking for merriment along the Port Alberni Harbour and Harbour Quay come join us for the 2008 Festival Of Sails in Port Alberni, British Columbia this year.

Let the Festival begin in the land of "Bear Tracks and Lumberjacks"!

Tickets available for the Evening Cruise and Mock Gun Battle.


Book an Evening Cruise aboard the Lady Washington or Hawaiian Chieftain by visiting their own websites listed on the Ships pages or at the Tall Ships Office in the Harbour Quay. (250-724-3314).

The cruises start at 6:00 pm on the Friday or Saturday.

Tickets will be available at the gate at the time of the event. Early tickets can be purchased at the TallShips office on the Quay, Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce and Port Alberni Echo Centre.
